SUDS made easy
Sustainable urban drainage systems focuses on two main aspects of water run off, quality and quantity. The reason SUDS is becoming such an important part of owning a home is simple, we are damaging the environment in a number of ways by building properties on so much soluble land:
> We are increasing the peak rate of water run off by reducing the amount of open permeable ground, leading to potential flood risk for areas further down the water course
> We are affecting water quality by having it permeate through materials that leave large amounts of slit and pollutants in the water
> We are affecting the course of the water table by changing the way water permeates into the soil
How can you create a SUDS compliant property?
Rainwater harvesting stops water from immediately running from your roof to your potentially paved front garden and then onto the road or other widely paved or otherwise non-permeable surface. This means that in times of heavy rainfall your home is not contributing to the surge of water heading straight for the nearest water course, alleviating the local drainage systems in times of peak rainfall.

Our rainwater harvesting systems prevent the water from your roof from running onto materials that could potentially contain pollutants and soluble silts that can infect the groundwater. Your roof water is filtered, stored and then gradually let back into the water course.
Permeable paving increases the amount of permeable land on your property allowing for water to slowly rejoin the water table reducing the peak rate of water run off. This preserves the water table as there is a more natural drainage pattern and the groundwater is recharged in a healthier way.
Ecogrid permeable paving is non-toxic, contains no pollutants and does not produce any soluble materials that can penetrate into the water table.
